You know that playlist in your iTunes or whatever you use that has only soothing, dreamy and very silent music? The one you put on when you go to sleep or when you relax, filled with you’re favorite gloomy tunes?
Here’s a couple of tracks from my silent playlist:
Modeselektor feat. Thom Yorke – The White Flash
Cinematic Orchestra – Exit Music For A Film (Radiohead cover)
Bright Eyes – Lua
Jason Lyttle – Underneath The Weeping Willow (Live version)
Now show me yours. What’s on your silent playlist…?

at the moment my silent playlist would be “dispositivos de mi granja” by alex under… sometimes belief systems album “eponyms”… or other minimal tech artist…

Basically, if you hear a record/song enough times, your mind will just consider it a soothing background ambience (except if it really brings out memories, good or bad). That might explain a few of the odd-balls from this sample of my list :)
Kenji – The Making of a Cyborg (Ghost in a Shell OST) Really nice with the Japanese touch
Massive Attack – Angel
Death Cab For Cutie – I Will Follow You Into The Dark
Rammstein – Amour
Band of Horses – St. Augustine
Most of the Fight Club OST
Trentemøller – The Last Resort
Many more tunes have been placed on the list, just to be removed: I get too emotional hearing certain VETO/Kent/Buckley/many more songs :)!
Excellent post, btw!

It’s funny with those lists. I create them so that I can fall a sleep but somehow I allways end up listening the list through -just because it is SO soothing and great! My before-sleep-list is currently as follows:
José González – Remain
Midlake – Roscoe
No And The Maybes – Mouth
The Knife – This Is Now
Mikael Simpson – Virus
Bjôrk – Possibly Maybe
and last but not least…Band Of Horses – The First Song, which I really thought would put me to sleep, but I’m just singing along in my head instead.
After that I sleep (if not I give it another listen) :)

Well, I have alot of so-called “silent” tracks. I’m a big fan of trance-like music. Music I can fall into,
and become hypnotized by…
Here’s yesterday’s “sleep-playlist”:
Massive Attack – Tear Drop
VETO(that’s you!) – I Brought the BBQ
Harrowdown Hill – Thom Yorke
In This Mess Together(One Chef Remix) – Marvel Hill
Radiohead – Everything In It’s Right Place
Radiohead – How To Dissapear Completely
Radiohead – Pyramid Song
Radiohead – Videotape
Radiohead – Sail to the Moon
Radiohead – Like Spinning Plates
Well, that was the playlist I was falling asleep to yesterday. Alota’ Radiohead, but that’s only because of the new album, In Rainbows, that have reawakened my obssesive Radiohead fan from the depths of my mind!

What a great topic!
Here are some of my personal favorite “silent” songs.. or downtempo id rather call them.
Since im a sucker for John Mayer i really enjoy his music, especially the live tracks!
John Mayer – Covered in Rain and Clarity (from the AS IS vol.6 album)
The Cinematic Orchestra – almost all of their work, but especially Burnout, Flite from their “Every Day” album, and their jazz tracks.. fx. ..And Relax!
BoH ofc. The Funeral and their new track “detlef schrempt”.
Almost all of Mikael Simpsons work, – Virus is my favorite!
All tracks on the “Garden State” Official sound track! And what a great film that is also.
Radiohead – Nude and Wierd Fishes.
Also, the music from the video game “SIMS”! There is some classical music when building.. and thats lovely ;) i might find a link for those tracks.
There is plenty more tracks.. but these are the ones im listening to atm.

Daft Punk: Nightvision
Comment by Grann — October 25, 2007 @ 12:00
Troels. Jeg tror det er dit billede øverst pÃ¥ siden “SuperTroels” logoet.
Det er som om at den står til at være længst til venstre, hvorved alt tekst bliver skubbet til side.
MÃ¥ske?
Comment by Danielb — October 25, 2007 @ 16:37
My playlist is long, so I randomly picked a few:
Acustic – T.P.Ø (Rumpistol Remix)
Bonobo- Change Down
Plaid – Even Spring
Ochre – Beneath Fleeting Visions
That’s just a few. It’s mainly electronica – no vocals to disturb my mind when relaxing/sleeping :)
