End Scene A Capella

While I’m busy at work trying to get the BLCK album finished, I thought I would release the acapella of End Scene to see what you can do with it. Though it’s not that fashionable anymore I’m still a firm believer in freedom of sampling and mixing under the artists regulations that eg. Creative Commons offers, as a supplement to the current copyright laws. So without further ado…

END SCENE A CAPELLA – 126 BPM

You can do whatever you like with it as long as you credit me or link back to this site. The only rule is that you can’t make money off of it, without my explicit permission. Respect that and you’re good to go. And oh…I’d love to hear what you’ve done with it, so please leave a link to your work in the comments.

Untitled

The skies are grey, it seems summer has left us, and I am on my way to the Faeroe Islands with VETO.

I have thought a lot about the BLCK release lately. I have set the goal for myself that the material – in any form it’ll take – must be finished come august. This means that a release in late september, beginning of october is realistic.

I have had a hard time figuring out in what direction I wanted to go. I want the album to reflect both the straight up techno part of me and the part of me that is willing to put genre barriers aside and do work that is more experimental. As techno is a genre with a lot of dogmas and well-founded rules, it can be hard to find a path beween those two sides. I have turned to a lot of different artists and genres to look for inspiration and I am now much nearer to the finishing line than I thought I would be at this point.

I want to be proud of the end result. I don’t want to look back on it in six months and think that I could have done anything differently. I want BLCK to be simple in structure, but complex in soundcape. Excactly like I feel about WHT.

I’ll post artwork and tracklist here as soon as it is ready.

Stop! Hammock time…

I am mostly writing this post to check out the functionality of the wordpress app for iPhone. Hope it works.

I am in Norway with Veto right now. We played a show at Slotsfjeld Festival earlier tonite. It went well, though it was in broad daylight. Music just sounds better when it’s dark doesn’t it? Right now we’re just waiting for Big Bang to go on stage. We played a show with them at the Viper Room in LA a few years ago, but none of us seem to remember the music that well, though the party afterwards with them still stands vividly. It was a nice night.

Later on we hope to catch Who Made Who at a local club here in Tønsberg. They are really nice guys and it’s always nice to see them again.

I hope to begin using this blog more in the future. Posts like this one, with more stories from here and there will most likely occur when I have seen if this app works.

Untill then I leave you with a picture of my feet in a Norwegian hammock.

I Made This Today

There’s nothing like new equipment to spark your creativity. Today I received my Machinedrum from swedish manufacturer Elektron. The above track was what came out of it. It’s still a little rough around the edges. Needs some more turning and tweaking, but definitely a candidate for a spot on BLCK.

Voodeux – The Paranormal

If you get the time hurry up and buy The Paranormal by Voodeux. Another really amazing release from boundary-pushing-yet-loyal Mothership. And don’t forget this on your way out.
