WHT order details

factory.jpg

The CD’s came back from the factory yesterday, and I am really satisfied with the look of it so far. The encasing is called a super jewel case. It has rounded corners and a few other details that make it slightly more elegant than the regular jewel case. It think it fits the layout nicely. The vinyls are just around the corner but I had to figure out a way to give all of you vinyl lovers a free digital download with it. I found a solution through a new cool site for bands called Bandcamp. When I buy new releases on vinyl it always bothers me when there’s no digital version coming with the purchase. It should be mandatory so you didn’t have to buy the same album twice. Anyhow, I managed to slip a little download voucher with it so things are all good. It will be another week or two before the vinyl is here.

I have noticed that there are people are asking in the comments, if the record is released outside Denmark yet. I do not have any distribution or license deals on the album but I am planning on it. It should be possible to order the album from outside (and inside) Denmark through this link. Let me know how it works out.

Lastly, thanks for all your support. It means the world to me.

Moving to the country

Yesterday morning I went to Ã…rhus to rehearse for this weekends release concerts. Three hours in a train both ways. I was home really late. As usual I had to spend a little time in front of the computer before being able to sleep, and I thought I’d check out the comments on a blog that recently featured a couple of the songs from my new album as well as an interview with me about it. As I scanned through the comments I stumbled on a guy (presumably) that seemed to really have a problem with me. He had so many presumptions about me as a person – that I was arrogant, had some degree og megalomania and probably a range of other not so charming features. Now this is what I hate about having to promote yourself, to promote your music. It’s all these half truths and partly told stories that give the impression that they are encapsulating ones personality. It’s just not true, ’cause there’s someone in between doing the editing and it will always, always be their interpretation of you that is published. What I like is this type of communication. Things like blogging, twitter, myspace and all other forms of communicating that means, that the words go straight from me, to the receiving end. No journalist, no context and no specific angle to the story. No presumptions.

I think I am just doing a lot of interview these days, and it’s not necessarily something I like doing that much. It can be good, and it can be truthful, but there is so much phony-baloney in this business and many interviewers are not doing anything to get behind that.

I am halfway out the door right now, to do a radio interview. One of the things I actually enjoy most fo the time. Take care and don’t take notice if this blogpost doesn’t make sense to you. It’s out my system now :-)

I use Twitter

At first I was really sceptic about the whole constantly-manifesting-updating-my-status thing with Twitter. I think I didn’t understand the idea of following someone or the fact that twitter can be pretty much what you want it to be.

A guy called Mark was so nice as to reserve the name “supertroels” for me. When I asked him for the login information, he gave it to me under the condition that I had to use it actively. So now I am. I’d like to give you a comprehensive guide to what Twitter is all about, but I am too lazy. Basically it’s 140 character status updates that can include pictures, links, geographical coordinates or whatever you want to include. If you “follow” someone on Twitter you will get their status updates and if they “follow” you they will get yours. Simple, really, and basically it’s facebook but without all the unnecessary services (mail, events, groups, etc.). Now you know a little about it, go check it out. You can follow me at twitter.com/supertroels to see an example of how Twitter can be used. You can always close your account again if you don’t like it.

One word of warning: Like with cigarettes, alcohol and narcotics, Twitter is extremely addictive. Don’t let it be an easy substitute for real life expression. UPDATE: I linked to the videos Mr. Pink left in the comments. It describes the problems you can experience with something like twitter in a pretty dramatic way.

Release date and tracklist for WHT

Originally I had this idea that I wanted to do two albums. One with the mellow stuff and one with the clubby, techno material. I soon realized that I am not nearly where I want to be with the latter of the two. I do not have material that I feel is good enough for an entire album with techno/house, so for now, only WHT is released.

I am really proud of WHT and I feel that I have been way more focused on doing it right, than doing it fast this time. My first album “I Know That You Know” was released in a bit of a hurry, and while I was in the midst of a heavy transition period. I think that is audible on that album. I feel confident about WHT and I feel that I have done what I really wanted to do.

WHT is released in Denmark May 4th on my own label, in conjunction with Sony Music. It will be out on CD, and a Vinyl with a digital download included. The artwork is made by me in collaboration with Mads Katholm, who also plays bass on the album. The picture above is how the front cover is going to look.

Tracklist is:
The Woods Are Here Worksong End Scene
Switch It Off
When You’re Ready, Let Go
Shine Your Light
Collider
Wrong Gods
You Don’t Get Me At All
I Am Not An Island
We’re Like This
Nothing Comes To Those Who Wait

There are short previews of the entire album and a free download of the final version of End Scene over at my last.fm account.
