OH FUCKING YEAH!!!

Found this over at Music For Robots while browsing through the latest fashionable indie-hipster bands. I could “only” find one downloadable track there, but if you catch on to these guys go here to buy their record.
Uzi and Ari consists of Ben Shepard, Cade Thalman, Andrew Glassett and Catherine Worsham. As far as I could tell Ben is the main engine of this ship, writing the songs and the others are, as he decribes it himself, “helping him play them”.
Uzi and Ari – Don’t Black Out
The track I found, called “Don’t Black Out“ is sort of a mixture between some of the stuff on Radioheads Kid’ A and Efterklangs Tripper. Very mellow and soft but dark as hell…

So, along with public recognition comes the offers to DJ at various parties and clubs. As if I should know anything about DJ’ing. Wel well, I’ll do what it takes to stay in the spotlight, so come see me do a 45 minute DJ set at Club Asstrash in RÃ¥huset, Copenhagen on the 9th of june. Twelve-ish I should think…
The Portishead influences are obvious and the songs are not the best I’ve ever heard, but this girl has something for sure. The tunes she has uploaded on mymusic.dk are very well produced in their field, and though I’m not to keen on all of them, one song called “Toss Away” hit me as being very, very beautiful. I’ve only heard The Knife use the pitchshifter this way, but Tilde apparently does it too, and she uses it to perfection. It’s a fine line between silly voices and good effects.
So spend three minutes of your life listening to “Toss Away” and you won’t be disappointed. You can also visit her website at polemiknet.dk. Best of luck to you Tilde…

I finished the first heat of recording with The River Phoenix yesterday, and everybody seemed happy about the way things had turned out. Now for a little bit of mixing, and the two tracks “28″ and “Elephants” should be ready to “hit you right where it hurts”.
It was fun for me to record with these guys, since it’s not the type of music that I usually do. I saw them live at Pumpehuset, and they did a really great gig that night. The wall of sound coming from the three guitars (one of them being a baritone, doing a bang up job on the bass frequencies) came as somewhat of a surprise to me, since that was not the sound they had on the recordings I had heard at the time. They were more polished and everything I really liked about the concert was not on the recording. No wall of guitars and no energy. So it was a key issue for me, to not shove some modern sound down the throats of these guys, but rather let the real sound of the band do the work. The River Phoenix plays walls and does dreamy vocals, and that’s what should be recorded. I think we nailed it. Either way it was a real good couple of days in the company of an excellent band. Watch out for them…

Okay, the date is set. In a couple of weeks I’ll be teaming up with the boys from The Floor Is Made Of Lava. I am so excited, I can’t wait…

I am really looking forward to working with these guys, and I think they feel the same way about it. We’ve talked about re-recording “Told Her I’m From Compton” and giving their new tune “Do Your Sister” a try, so it should be a fun couple of days.
Yes yes yes yes! Found the most incredible cover of “There Is A Light That Never Goes Out” by The Smiths, featured for the first time in 1987 on “The World Won’t Listen”. Schneider TM made a cover called “There Is A Light 3000″ and you can get it here:
SCHNEIDER TM – THERE IS A LIGHT 3000
Enjoy…
Heard this band on the Idol Tryouts Vol. 2. and I must admit that their song “Fit Black Man” has been stuck in my head ever since. “A fit black man, in love with a fat white woman”!!! I don’t know why I love it so but I do. They released their album “Git” around this time last year on Ghostly International and you can download the title track for free here. “Git” sounds like a kind of more elctronic version of Phoenix, and certainly a more interesting version of them.

I can’t believe I haven’t heard of this until now. But then again, I can’t keep track of every piece of music in the world, can I?
